Humans of ME/CFS
It’s difficult to put 30 years of CFS into 500 words so here is one frustrating day in a few.
Seeking CFS-ologist
Neurologist, Immunologist, Virologist I say?
Urologist, Cardiologist, Dermatologist no way!
Rheumatologist, Pharmacologist, Gynecologist no good?
Pathologist, Radiologist, Psychologist maybe could.
Surrounded by experts except one I need,
It’s a CFS-ologist I seek yet concede;
Their existence is fictional, just like the word,
CFS a disease, that’s completely absurd!
Unless you’re the one racked with fatigue and pain,
Validation by few has you going insane.
It will eat me away till I draw my last breath,
For it’s sure to cause my own fateful death.
What then will they say, will they think that it’s real?
Or keep turning their heads – it’s too hard no big deal!
Lives will be lost yet no deaths recorded,
Researchers revered and gallantly awarded.
Years will pass with more lives taken,
An enigma they will say, so much forsaken!
